NAD C 352

The NAD C 352 is an upper-range integrated stereo amplifier from the mid 2000s.

The power supply uses a toroidal transformer and two large 22000µF filter capacitors. A separate transformer is used for the control circuitry and standby mode. The output stage is built with SanKen 2SA1295 and 2SC3264 transistors in a common-collector push-pull configuration.

One pair of speakers is supported, and a relay is used for delayed start and protection. The volume control is motorized, and input selection is made with eight relays. The back panel features a Soft Clipping option that reduces the effects of clipping distortion during high-volume operation.

Sonic performance is very good and accurate. Distortion is very low. The visual appearance is somewhat debatable, but some users may find it appealing. Remote control is supported.

Maximum Power

Maximum power is measured using 8Ω resistors on both channels. A 1kHz sine wave input signal is applied and gradually increased until higher harmonics rise significantly. Typically, this is the point at which output clipping occurs.

Frequency Response

Frequency response is measured using several equilizer settings. 'Flat' indicates the tone controls are either turned off or set to their neutral position. 'Max' and 'Min' refer to the maximum and minimum tone control positions, respectively. In the phono section, the expected response follows the RIAA equalization curve.
