Hitachi FT-8000
The Hitachi FT-8000 is a vintage stereo FM tuner from the early 1980s.
The FM front end uses four varicap diodes and has three 10.7MHz IF filters in the next stage. The HA11211 is used for FM detection, while the HA11223W handles FM MPX stereo decoding. A HA1452W stereo preamplifier is used in the audio output stage, with a relay providing output muting.
The Toshiba TC9124AP provides PLL-based frequency synthesis, ensuring precise and stable tuning. This type of PLL tuning system was typically found in higher-end units of the period.
Once the hatch is open, the complexity of this tuner becomes apparent. Thanks to the removable bottom panel, all PCBs are accessible for servicing. Its visual appearance is not particularly eye-catching, but overall performance is satisfactory.
