Sony ST-S590ES
The Sony ST-S590ES is an RDS stereo FM/AM tuner from the early 1990s, part of Sony's high-end ES series.
The FM tuner section is built around the FE101 front-end module, followed by four ceramic filters for effective IF selectivity. Signal processing is handled by the LA1235 IF amplifier and detector, while stereo decoding is performed by the LA3401. RDS data is decoded by the LA2230, with system control provided by the uPD75512 microcontroller.
The Sony ST-S590ES supports remote control operation, dual antenna inputs, selectable Wide and Narrow IF bandwidth modes, and features a well-designed rotary tuning dial. Overall performance is very good, while its styling is typical of Sony components from the early 1990s.
